Gas Spring Replacement (GSR)
 

ITT Enidine Inc. actuator / rate controls are a versatile choice for providing the energy necessary to move any type of hinged aircraft interior component, while controlling the rate of movement. Most typically applied to stowage bin door movement, ITT Enidine Inc.’s lightweight Gas Spring Replacements (GSRs) perform so well, they have become “The Standard” in the industry for most commercial aircraft.

Typical GSR applications:

  • Lavatory door and waste flap closers
  • “Pop-up” applications (armrest video, tables, etc.)

  • When the application calls for a longer stroke or more force than a GSR provides, ITT Enidine Inc. can custom design an actuator / rate control to meet those specific needs. Some ITT Enidine Inc. custom applications include:

  • Maintenance Access Door – ITT Enidine Inc. units provide the force required to bring under-aircraft access doors to their fully open position for easy access, while controlling the rate of opening for maximum safety.
Life Raft Stowage Bin – Emergency life rafts are bulky and heavy, making their storage in the aircraft a problem. ITT Enidine Inc. has designed systems that allow their storage in the most convenient place – the ceiling. The ITT Enidine Inc. system allows for a safe descent of the bin to within easy reach, but provides utilizes counterbalance springs to assist airline staff in lifting the heavy load to its stowed position.
